Blu-Ray HD-DVD update
There's some more new news out about Blu-Ray and HD-DVD, and to be honest all this is frustrating me like nothing else.
We have some news on the copy protection and DRM used by the new formats and why it might just be good for us consumers, and news that HD-DVD could be up for a delay too.
Why boycotting Blu-Ray isn't helping is a story that really does debunk some of the myths that people are starting to shout about and leap on the bandwagon to boycott Blu-Ray. This seriously winds me up, protection systems are everywhere, why are people just starting to get on their high horses now? We've had DVD protection for ages, and how many of these people are sitting with an iPod at home and not saying anything about that?
On that point...Why AACS is better than CSS for consumers discusses just that and we discover that maybe it's not so bad after all.
Finally we hear that maybe Blu-Ray isn't the only one having problems. Toshiba are backing off the release of their HD-DVD players and waiting for titles to be out there before they release a player...is that the real reason? Who knows.
What we do know is that this is just taking far too long. However the longer it takes the better systems we're going to finally get...and maybe, just maybe, they could decide which format to sell to us consumers.
