Even the possibility that Pink and Britney Spears are in the running for the role as Janis Joplin just staggers belief.

What other pop stars could we chuck into the mix? Whitney Houston, JLo, Anastacia or Kelly Clarkson? Actually, I've just realised, Houston or Anastacia would be good suggestions, for differing reasons of course...anyway, the story comes from Digital Spy:

Director Penelope Spheeris has already met with Pink, Lindsay Lohan and Zooey Deschanel in connection with The Gospel According to Janis, and is hoping to further meet with Scarlett Johansson.

Spheeris is quoted on Contactmusic.com as saying: ""[Pink] would be my first choice, but she may have scheduling conflicts."...Regarding another interested party, Britney Spears, Spheeris said: "Her agent asked if I could meet with her. Music ability is important, but most of all, the actress must have the spirit of Janis.

Yeah, musical talent. Okay let's shave that list down then. Pink it is. I was actually surprised when I saw her sing live on Jonathon Ross' show the other week and she sounded great, looked good, and was bouncing around the stage as well. Great performaner and great voice. I think she probably could carry the role quite well, and others seem to have faith in her acting ability judging from her IMDB profile.

Who do you think should play the role, I can't honestly see you saying Spears...please god no...but are there other choices that perhaps haven't been looked at?
