Bruce Campbell talks Evil Dead remake

BruceCampbell.jpgBruce Campbell has given out the first snippet of information on the Evil Dead remake, and depending on how you look at it, it might just mean good news.

From Penny Blood through Film Rotation:

But I think we're gonna do a remake. It'll be a whole new story, though. It won't be with Ash. It'll be the evil book, and it'll affect a whole new group of people in a different situation. More like a reinvention. A lot of people, they got really crabby on the Internet when they first heard that type of stuff. But, we would never do anything to insult them.

He does say that there's not a lot of talk about it at the moment as Sam Raimi is far too busy, but that the plans would be with modern effects, not what can be cobbled together with garden implements!

I actually think this is all good news, distancing themselves from the original series somewhat is going to make sure they don't sully the name of Evil Dead, and listening to the fans is always a good thing, after all with such a cult classic they made it so popular. Personally though, I'd rather he gets going on a Bubba Ho-tep sequel.

Wasn't Evil Dead 2 Sam Raimi's psuedo-remake of the first film? So this will be the third then ;-)

It will be interesting as long as Sam Raimi is along for the ride.

Not really, this will be the "revitalisation"...ahem.

A Bubba Ho-tep sequel will also do it for me Richard!

Perhpas they could remake Bubba Ho-Tep instead. But this time they could make it good.

Sorry to be in the minority but I thought it was guff (although Bruce Campbell was great in it).

I dont know maybe the remake will be pretty good but instead of using Ash as the main character they should use a woman they should also keep the scene in were Cheryl gets sexually violated by the tree vines, by the way for anyone who's seen "Donnie Darko" did you notice they went and saw "Evil Dead"
