Jamie Bell films in Edinburgh

JamieBell.jpgI really liked Jamie Bell in The Chumbscrubber, and so I'm even more excited that he's in Edinburgh right now filming his latest role, and it sounds just as off beat.

Hallam Foe is, according to IMDB...

Hallam, a confused and sweetly old-fashioned teenager, has chosen an unusual way of following life on his father's estate-voyeurism. He convinced that his stepmother is responsible for his mother's suicide. His voyeurism becomes dangerous, but Hallam is eventually redeemed by love.

Whereas over at Time Out Movie Blog they have a slightly more grounded take on it:

plays the title character, a youngster who is distraught by the sudden death of his mother. Suspecting his step-mum might have had a hand in the death, he escapes to Edinburgh, where he falls in love with a beautiful woman who just happens to look like his mother.

A story of love, loss and life on the Edinburgh rooftops, 'Hallam Foe' also stars Sophia Myles, Claire Forlani and Ciarán Hinds, and is directed by David Mackenzie ('Asylum', 'Young Adam').

It does sound like an interesting tale, and with shades of a few French films I have seen in my time...falling in love with his own mother? Well, someone that looks like them at least, so okay it's not just like the French films I've seen!

Comments

After being in Edinburgh I would love to see the city again even if through this film- not to mention Mr. Hinds being part of the cast.

I do like Sophia Myles (I am guessing she is the object of his vouyeurism?) after seeing her in the tv-movie Colditz", the first "Underworld" film and looking forward to "Tristan and Isolde". But I am really seeing this now because of Mr. Hinds. Aherm. ;-)
