Malkovich signs The Mutant Chronicles
John Malkovich looks set to become the next actor with serious gravitas to head towards a mutant based film, and the announcement that he has joined The Mutant Chronicles also tells us that Mutants aren't having their last stand in Hollywood after all.
From The Hollywood Reporter through Killer Movies comes the news:
Malkovich will play Constantine, who heads a United Nations-style council of four corporation-run countries that have pillaged Earth's natural resources. When a marauding army of "NecroMutants" wages a battle against humans for the little that remains, Constantine is tempted to destroy the planet and evacuate some of its people rather than allow it to be overtaken, all with the corporations' best interests in mind.
The story is taken from a popular role-playing game, possibly the next entertainment genre to be pillaged? Sounds an interesting tale though, and with the news of Malkovich in the role it certainly does sound promising.
