Order of the Pheonix update

OrderofthePheonix.jpgThe filming for the new Harry Potter film, Order of the Pheonix, is only five weeks in and there is positive news coming out already. Interestingly I never really took to the series until the last film which was much better, but still didn't hit it for me. From some of the things being said here I think we might be a little closer to capturing me.

From Empire comes some snippets from various people involved:

"We're doing the fifth Harry Potter at the moment, which is going really really well," gushed Daniel Radcliffe. "The new director's fantastic. I've never been quite this pushed before, so regularly. He's really pushing Harry's emotional and psychological journey. But he also seems to have an incredible eye for sets and shoots and things."...

...Producer David Heyman told us what they've filmed to date. "We've done a little bit of action so far. We've done some stuff involving centaurs and Grawp, who is Hagrid's 16ft brother. The kids have to act against a lot of blue screen for characters like Grawp, but thankfully they're used to that by now."...

...Heyman also talked a little about the challenge of adapting the mammoth fifth book. "Inevitably with every book you make choices and there are certain things you have to leave out, so there are things that are left out on this. It always kills me, but you have to do it. We showed the script to Jo a couple of months ago, and she was very happy with it, so I think it's a good adaptation."

Good news for those Potter fans out there dying for this movie? I think so, and if the last film was anything to go by, this promises much indeed. Are you eagerly awaiting this next installment?

I think the books are excellent, but IMO the movies have been exceptionally poor (I've only seen the first 3).

The fifth book is hardly the highlight of the series (the sixth was a return to form).

I'm a fan the films (so far) and felt they were fair adaptations of the books. You can't put everything in and it is hard at times watching the movies, especially 3 & 4, knowing how much was left out. I'm looking forward to the 5th film, but I am also apprehensive because it is also the largest of the books. They really stripped down the last movie, so I will to have to sit down for the next one with an open mind.

I was told to read the books but no thank you. I have seen the films and really enjoyed the visual effects (*coughs* of course, courtesy of ILM)
