Pink Panther storms UK Box Office!

ReturnofthePinkPanther_Poster.jpgWhat the hell is wrong with the UK film audience? They've gone and made the horrendous Pink Panther remake top spot beating V for Vendetta and The Hills Have Eyes (review following soon)!

According to the BBC Panther took nearly £2m in its opening three days with Vendetta on just under £1.2m!

I'm shocked and stunned, especially in the UK. I really am at a loss for words...I'm sure Sellers wouldn't be were he alive. He probably still isn't now!

What does this mean? I could start ranting about the amount at the boxoffice meaning absolutely shite all when bums on seats is what REALLY matters. Unless you're a producer then it's hard cash.

Going on the current feature and Simone's revelation of the £10 Leicester Square after 5 ticket price, what if:
- £1.2m for V was solely from Edinburgh VUE tickets at £5.25 each? That's 228,571 tickets. And the Panther all at Leicester Square afetr 5pm means only 200,000 tickets. Less bodies, almost double the cash.

Oh, look, I am ranting. I just ignore monetary figures, I'd rather see bums on seats figures.

And yes, I agree with the cover story here, it looks a load of pisch, and a minimum of 200,000 people need their heads examining.

Mmmm I sense some creative accounting or just a lot of people who have no taste.

True, but I doubt that's really the case Lee. We can be pretty sure that the attendance was spread out across the UK, sure there will be fluctuations.

Still, you hit the nail on the head, there's a lot of people with no taste and need an examination!

Or, the people who went to see the film were in dire need of a comic relief and did not really want to bother with more serious films lile the ones mentioned.

...but there's no comic relief in this movie!

Hey, maybe it's really good and no-one has told you! You'll be sorry when Steve Martin wins best actor next year at the Oscars...

If Steve Martin's comic performances are to be judged on the likes of "Father of the Bride" and the god-awful sequel, then there is a hell, and it's right here on earth on our screens. And no chance of an Oscar. In fact there's more chance of me standing naked on Princes Street in December for a whole Saturday night. Hmm, challenge...

Lee, surely you meant to say

hmmm, a threat!

Rich, surely you sensed the sarcasm from my post? *winks*

Ah, okay...I didn't! Sorry!
