Pulse remake poster

USPulse_Poster.jpgI'm not going to make a big thing out of posters appearing for films unless they are good, and this one for the US remake of the Asian horror Kairo (Pulse) is. Not only that, it sounds like it's set to be a good remake.

Thanks to the people at Cinema Blend for the heads up. I do agree with them that this could be on the side of good Asian remakes.

Firstly the story is really strong and exceptionally creepy. Secondly Stephen Susco is writing, he of Grudge remake fame, also Wes Craven has had a hand in that too....but most importantly, and Hollywood is learning a big lesson here, Kiyoshi Kurosawa is on board - that's the original Director\Writer and he's donned these same duties for this film.

That, to me, says this has a great chance of becoming another strong Asian horror remake. Here's hoping too, and I also hope that it makes the audience think about seeing some of these originals.

I do like a good asian horror. I thought that the original had a good plot with some great scenes. But it was only a 7/10 in my opinion.

However the poster looks good. Could this be a remake thats actually better than the original?

Dave, you made me catch this Asian horror bug, but you are right it wasn't one of the best we'd seen come through. It was confused in places and needed more plot explanation to it at time, something that Susco managed to do very effectively to The Grudge without damaging it.

Ahhhh. Remember seeing the late night showing of Ring at the Cameo all those moons ago? That was cool..

Watching The Ring (Japanese) was a blast. I stayed away from the tv at night!

Oh yeah...that opened my eyes to foreign cinema in a big way. Thanks Dave.

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."
- Jack Burton, Big Trouble in Little China
