The Mummy 3

RachelWeisz.jpgTalk of The Mummy 3 has been around for some time, way back in December I wrote about a story suggesting the new plot concerning 1940's China...and not very many Mummies from Egypt. However word is out that the film is a go.

According to Moviehole through the ever cool Cinema Blend, Oded Fehr who played Ardeth Bay in the first two, won't be returning and he says...

..."I'm not involved [in "The Mummy 3"]. The person that wrote it, created it, tells me they're doing a third one. They were writing it [when I spoke to him], so I don't know where it is now. I believe it's only going to involve Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz's characters, of the old movies, and everyone else [in it] is going to be new.

Still, it looks like that 1940 China setting is to be. From my previous writing incarnation and a quote from Cinematical way back:

The new Mummy film will indeed depart the traditional Egyptian setting and head for the Orient – specifically, 1940’s China...At the forefront of the story is the mighty (but very dead) Emperor Qin Shihuang, who is interested in…wait for it…world domination, which he plans to achieve by activating...his enormous army, which is handily still around thanks to a curse which turned them into terracotta and preserved them throughout the centuries.

Mmm...I thought that was daft then, and I think it's daft now. Mummy - Chinese Terracotta Army...Mmmm...Shouldn't it be The Ornament?

They're right though, would Weisz even say yes to this considering her status now, and if she does can you imagine the paycheck?

The Mummy, not in Egypt? Mummy Returns didn't do anything for me, and a departure from tradition just doesn't make me interested in seeing this one. This plot says to me that the producers and writers had no ideas on how to make a third without going off-piste as it were.

I think the transportation of Ancient Egypt to the Far East is just not going to work.

WOW! Rachel Weiss... hot hot hotty...

i really enjoyed the previous mummies and feel that china has enough history for a pretty cool "special-effects-car-chase-action-packed-movie" to be created.

I love "The Mummy" films! This report by Rich just made me think, was it only the Egyptians who mummified their dead? Maybe those that followed this custom can also be used as a backdrop for a story, which explains the possible 3rd plot installment. I have heard of this terracota army in a news feature last year, so who knows it might just work? Please tell me they are bringing John Hannah back too? I love that guy! ;-)

Now that might be interesting re Jess Corbin
www.lotus.jesscorbin.com and the story re the resurrection of the terra cotta and the 1st Emperor
I've just read the next pages I reckon the rumour that its going to script and touting industry in CHINA could be true ! My kids love it !

Hi Arthur welcome to Filmstalker if this is your first time.

Glad you support my terracota army speculation.
