Transformers casting rumours

There's a very interesting rumour that's just appeared on the casting of the new Transformers movie from Michael Bay, there's one named actor and the human character list.

From The Allspark through Digg:

Sam - teenage male, somewhat nerdy, but ultimately heroic. Miguela Barns - teenage female, Sam's love interest. Cpt William Lennicks - 30s male, leader of the military. Maggie - female, really hot, really smart, works as a codebreaker for the government. John Kellar - 50's/60's male, US Secretary of State. Glen Whitman - 20's male, technogeek, comic relief. We've also been told that Shia LaBeouf has been cast in the role of Sam.

Frankly this means little to me, I'd be dead excited to hear about voice casting more than the human characters. Any Transformer fans out there that are excited by this? I have to laugh at the description of the Maggie character though, female, really hot, really smart... yes, it's a Bay film alright.

I dont recognize this name at all... but as long as there are giant robots trashing each other, explosions and hot chicks, hell, i'm game.

God I hate fishing for information like that in the grey matter. It's nuggets like that which have me tearing my (manly) long hair out!

I reckon that could go two ways, either he's actually a useful performer, which in fairness he may not have had a full opportunity to prove to us...

Or this is gonna go all Thunderbirds on our ass and attemt to contemporise TFormers for middle America and the dilute market.

In all honesty though, I may be looking at worst case scenario, Spielberg + TFormers = New pants please!

Anybody else make the connection with Michael Clarke Duncan getting cast in the human role for Figueroa?? That was also the name of the character he played in "The Whole Nine Yard", Frankie Figueroa, a.k.a Frankie Figs. Personally, I think he should have been cast as one of the voice roles. Omega Supreme perhaps?? Has anybody heard anything about who is getting cast for the voices???
