24 movie due 2008

24_Poster.jpgJoel Surnow, the creator of 24, has talked about the movie plans for the show and how they are breaking slightly from the traditional format. He also let leak when the filming would take place and the movie would be out.

Speaking on a TV show and caught through Moviehole.net, Surnow revealed all...

...there will be a "24" movie filmed in the summer of '07 with a release in '08. The movie will still take place over a 24 hour period, but will consist of three 40-minute real-time parts allowing for Jack Bauer to travel greater distances during the course of the story and bring him to more varied locations.

...well not quite all at all, but some interesting news. Moviehole comments that perhaps Bauer might not even be in the series by then, considering what he's been through already. Mind you, would Sutherland still be there by then? Frankly I'm surprised he's held onto the series for so long.

You know I quite like the idea of 3 40-min segments. It would work better than real time for 2.5 hours. And it is better than getting rid of realtime entirely.

Although it would be a shame if Jack B wasn't in it, I think there are enough main players to keep it interesting.

This is a very bad idea. First a videogame, now a movie. 24 is now a t-shirt trademark? Maybe, but it´s, and can´t only be, an outstanding TV series.

Its good because you need to wait for next episode to see whats going to happen... thats where the tension is created.

stuffing it all into a movie will remove most of the tension, take it out of its niche market and 24:the film will have to compete with similar movies.

not going to be a big hitter, but should bring in the numbers.
