Bana and Barrymore in Poker film

EricBana.jpgYeah, so what, Color of Money with cards instead of balls? Perhaps not as the new Poker film Lucky You starring Eric Bana, Drew Barrymore and Robert Duvall is packed with top professional Poker players as both players in the film, consultants on the movie and as trainers for the celebrity players.

You know, sometimes these actors get some sweet deals! Imagine being played to learn Poker to a professional level from top players in the world as part of your training? Me, I get an hours upskilling with fifty other people, and not even that because I'm off sick and missing it!

IMDB cover the story as:

Set among the poker tables of Las Vegas, Huck Cheever (Bana), tries to beat the odds and his own demons in order to win a world championship.

...with Poker magazine Bluff saying a little bit more...

Lucky You explores the story of a professional poker player (Bana) who gets a lesson in life from a struggling singer (Barrymore) as he collides with his estranged father (Duvall) in the world of high stakes poker in Las Vegas.

Does make me thing Color of Money with cards. Still, I like playing Poker and sometimes watching it, so who knows? Counting, there's thirty two professional players in the film recreating World Series of Poker tournaments, and three of those worked as consultants and trainers. Any good? Seems quite a step down for Bana from Munich.

Over at Moviesonline.ca they have a single image from the film, Bana fingering cards with Barrymore watching...shows the essence of the film. "Blackjack!"

Rich, if you like poker, try Matt Damon in "Rounders", unless of course youve already seen it.

"Seems quite a step down for Bana from Munich".

I had the same thoughts as you do, but then again its just another acting job.
