Church says Venom in Spiderman interview

Spiderman3.jpgWell that's it, the news we really knew all along has just been confirmed albeit accidentally by Thomas Haden Church. He let slip in an interview about the new film Spiderman 3 that Venom will be starring in the movie. Either that or it's a big and very clever redirection ploy!

Over at MSN Movies through Superhero Hype, comes the slip up:

"He's been showing me [stuff] since the beginning of last summer. 'This is what we are going to be doing in this sequence, this is what Spider-Man is going to be doing and this is what Venom is going to be doing.' It is a massive, massive process."

Oops! That'll be a phone call from Raimi immediately! Still, don't be too hard on the guy, he's a great actor and after all, we all knew!

Here comes Lowell again. i fondly remeber watching wings. it was one of my favourite tv series.

however, mr church has a tendency to revert to his character from that series in real life.

Then again, maybe they are using him as a chaff.

Do we know the date spidey-3 is likely to be released.... is it tomorrow? or the next day?? ok, so i am having trouble waiting for this one.....

and remember with great power comes a huge power bill.

I think I came up with THE way they'll introduce Venom in the movie. I posted my theory on themovieblog.com and if you're interested, I'd like to explain it here.

Please do Mogulus, post away.

Venom eh? Yawn.

The sleek Alien Black Costume was a pretty creepy character in the Spider-Man comic which I was reading back in the day.

Then the costume merged with someone called Eddie Brock and became some silly monster with muscles and a long tounge and I lost all interest.

ok man... ( sorry it took so long to get back )

the character of Jonah Jameson JR has been established as an astronaut in the previous film . I wondered why MJ married HIM of all people when I saw it. Then I realized the following:

1: in early comics, Spidey saves JJ JR from a disasterous re entry accident and gains temporary fleeting favor with JJ SR...

2: in the comics, Venom came from space.

of course, when you put these two together, it's not that much of a stretch to see this grand opening segment where spidey saves him from certain death but doesnt notice this space parasite stowing away on his costume to later become venom.

if anyone thinks i'm insane for thinking this, I've also been told by my comic book nerd friends that this scenario has actually been used already to bring venom into one of the cartoon series. though I'm not sure which one.

As to the people naysaying, thinking that multiple villains will crash this film, i point out that in the comics, Sandman is not at all a villain any more, and reformed to become a lukewarm ally of Spidey on many many occasions.

I'm fairly sure this will also be true in the movies.
: )

It makes quite a lot of sense.
