Hallam Foe Film Blog

HallamFoe.jpgThe movie Hallam Foe is currently filming in Edinburgh as we speak and the blog has arrived. Yes, it's another film with an official blogger on the crew, but actually this one has something those other mainstream movie marketing blogs don't tend to have, that's interesting content and crew involvement.

Hallam Foe is based on the book by Peter Jinks and you can catch the blurb on a previous news story.

What struck me was the exciting cast. There's Jamie Bell playing the lead, who I last saw in The Chumscrubber (reviewed) which I really enjoyed, the engaging and screen grabbing Ciarán Hinds, recently from Munich (reviewed) and soon to be seen in Miami Vice. Then there are two lovely actresses, the breathtaking Claire Forlani from Hooligans (reviewed) and soon For Your Consideration, and the gorgeous Sophia Myles from Underworld: Evolution. You have to agree with me there, that's a great cast, and I don't just mean the ladies!

So the blog, called Get You People... which doesn't seem to have anything to do with the film name itself, is up and live. I've added it to the Filmstalker Insiders Feed List which carries feeds from several filmmakers. The blog is already building fast, and there's some great inside shots to be had, never mind the fact that the stars are actually blogging on the site, with Jamie Bell blogging in character! Not to mention a picture of Forlani...sigh.

They also seem to have the right attitude to blogging about a film, as well as bloggers in general. I think these guys have nailed it on the head, and they're giving us more than any of the other blogs out there just now. Definitely keep your eye on this one, and I'll try and get some information as soon as I can.

Oh Richard, I just love the way you described Ciaran Hinds! I love that man so much!!!! *winks*

You get the joke, don't you? "Get Your People ... [to call our people]" So no, it has nothing to do with the name of the film, but it's a cute reference to the filmmaking community.

Cool blog, by the way; are you familiar with filmrot.com?

No, you're kidding, it isn't is it? Yep Justin, caught that already. My comment was more around why they don't include the film titles in the blog itself, how else are people going to search for and discover production blogs like that?

Thanks for the comment. Yep, visit filmrot, as I do with over sixty other sites, daily. Filmstalker is even featured on its blog feed. Why the question Justin?

Yeah, ok, I guess I deserved that sarcasm ... :-)

The question was just because I didn't find a reference to FilmRot on your site. By the way: the list you maintain of other Film-related sites and blogs has two disadvantages IMNSHO:

1) It's not just on your sidebar (which I think would be nice) -- nor is there an obvious link on your sidebar pointing people to it.

2) Each site you link to is represented by multiple links to what appear to be arbitrarily-chosen articles. Why not just one link per site, to the main page of that site?

Hey Justin, just kidding - us Scots are always sarcastic.

For the navigation issue, yeah I had thought through the list of pages vs drop down selection. Eventually I chose the drop down selection option. That just came through my work experience and that of my helpful designer. Do you not like the drop down navigation style? I thought that with its placing and title it worked well.

Also it's not a list of film related sites, if it were I would be listing people like FilmRot. They do a great job of keeping a comprehensive list of film related sites (like mine) across the board. I don't feel there's a need to replicate such a list.

My list is of blogs connected directly to films. So that means film marketing blogs and people directly involved in the production of films. That's writers, directors, etc. That's what I wanted to do, gather a list of those kind of blogs together.

The list of blogs is based on their title, and the following that title are listed the last five posts as indicated on their public feed. So they are not multiple links to the site chosen at random but links to the last five individual stories publicised on their site feed.

Hope that helps?
