Latest Stormbreaker trailer online

Stormbreaker.jpgWhile watching the trailers for Alien Autopsy I caught site of a new trailer for Stormbreaker which is also available on the official site.

You can watch the trailer over at the Stormbreaker official site [Flash], which also has a host of images, wallpapers, and by selecting the news link you'll find some concept art, etc.

What struck me about this film, apart from the cast which I'll come back to, was how good it looked. When I realised that it was about a teenage spy I was considering some watered down family movie, which is fine in itself, but what this new trailer plays out like a fully fledged Bond film! I was surprised.

Then there's that cast. Ewan McGregor, Mickey Rourke, Bill Nighy, Sophie Okonedo, Alicia Silverstone, Damian Lewis, Stephen Fry, Andy Serkis and Robbie Coltrane! Let me take a breath here. That's a superb cast, and yells more and more promise for the film.

The film is based on the popular book Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz and gets some excellent reviews both there, and from my friend Martin! The blurb reads:

When his guardian dies in suspicious circumstances, fourteen-year-old Alex Rider finds his world turned upside down. Forcibly recruited into MI6, Alex has to take part in gruelling SAS training exercises. Then, armed with his own special set of secret gadgets, he's off on his first mission to Cornwall, where Middle-Eastern multi-billionaire Herod Sayle is producing his state-of-the-art Stormbreaker computers. Sayle has offered to give one free to every school in the country - but there's more to the gift than meets the eye.

Just watched the trailer, and wow! It does look good- not to mention the cast.

Would never have heard of this film if not for this site. ;-)

Sorry folks,
but watching a teenager doing all those amazing/crazy/impossible/adult things just doesn't seem to fit that well. I can't bite it. What's next, a 80 years old James Bond jumping and kicking? I just think sometimes we need to draw a line.

The main character is simply to young to pull those things to take him seriously and to old to look the film from a funny perspective. Hence, the trailer contains a dozen of action stunts to add at least some suspense.

However, I do believe the film would rock if they portayed a teenager that somehow was recruited as a real spy, something like a 17 years old James Bond but with less crazy stunts.

Ach, I think it might be some great escapism and fun to be had. Nothing serious at all.
