Schattenkind

Film One Star

One good thing about most of these shorts in the Dead by Dawn Horror festival is the comic element, most of them seem not to take themselves too seriously, and Schattenkind (Shadow Kid) is no exception.

This short features a trio of teenagers camping out overnight in a deserted cabin (which reminded me very much of that cabin from Evil Dead) and realising all too late that it's haunted.

To be honest the problem with this film is that there's nothing new. Sure there's humour and cliches galore injected for laughs, but that's all there really is, apart from a nice effects shot at the end of the movie.

It is really just light entertainment. There's no real payoff and no feeling out of the story.

I don't feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from the Indians. Our so-called stealing of this country from them was just a matter of survival. There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves.
