Angels and Demons gains writer
The movie follow up to The Da Vinci Code, but in book terms the prequel, seems to be moving forward quite rapidly with the news that Akiva Goldsmith has been signed by Sony to write this screenplay too (he wrote the Da Vinci Code screenplay by the way). There are no other firm signings, but apparently Sony are going to try the entire original team.
Though development of Angels & Demons is still in the early stages, Variety says the studio's also planning to reassemble The Da Vinci Code producing team of Brian Grazer and John Calley for the project. No deals are set yet for director Ron Howard or star Tom Hanks to return, but both would have first crack at the project.
Is the news from Coming Soon. I'm unsure if the original team would return. Can you see it? I know that Howard is quite exasperated by the critics reponses to the movie and their quite undeserved harshness, would he then want to face a replay?
If I were Hanks I might say yes to the reprise of the Langdon role as this story has much more for the character to do and carries a much wider range than playing second place to the actual conspiracy tale. What do you think, if you were them would you want to return?
