The movie The Kingdom is being described everywhere as "the Middle East thriller" as if there are no other thrillers based in the Middle East! However there is more news coming out about the casting and altogether it makes for an interesting read.

According to Yahoo News:

...Jason Bateman has joined the cast...Jamie Foxx, Chris Cooper and Jennifer Garner already have boarded the project, which is set for a June start date.

The Universal Pictures revolves around a deadly bombing attack that targets Americans working in a Middle Eastern country, and the U.S. government's counterterrorist response. Peter Berg ("Friday Night Lights") is directing.

Sounds a quite interesting tale, but it might just be a standard plot in a foreign location. I really do hope that they concentrate on getting some of the real Middle East entwined in the story, otherwise we'll just be watching an early film version of 24.
