Casino Royale sequel underway?
Casino Royale isn't even finished filming and the team behind the Bond movies are moving fast on its sequel, Bond 22 - that's not the actual film title, that's just the position it holds in the Bond franchise! - There's already talk of a writer and a director.
Over at IGN UKthey have the surprisingly early rumours:
According to a report attributed to The Daily Mail, Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson...The report claims that playwright/Oscar-winning screenwriter Tom Stoppard is "in talks" to pen the screenplay...Stoppard is not unfamiliar with the espionage genre. He is currently rewriting The Bourne Ultimatum......also claims that Eon Prods. are "in negotiations" with South African-born director Roger Michell (Notting Hill, Changing Lanes) to helm Bond 22.
You know it didn't strike me until now that there would be such an urgency to release a Bond film in 2007. Go on, guess why.
However these suggestions are really early, and I wouldn't be surprised if this changes. Still if they're talking about making 2007 then it's perhaps not that early.
Both writer and director mentioned seem a good match for the series, what do you think? Anyone in particular that you think would be better?
