Che Guevera documentary
Che Guevara is hot property right now and the Argentine Director Tristán Bauer is set to take on a documentary about his life after tackling the hot topic of the Falklands War as seen through the eyes of an Argentinian Soldier.
There are a number of Che Guevara films already listed on IMDB, and there are two of late that carry some notable interest. Steven Soderbergh has one underway called Guerrilla with Benecio Del Toro in the lead, and another post mentions the version with Eduardo Noriega as the man himself in Che Guevara.
Now, according to Variety through Cinematical, the documentary Iluminados por el fuego (Blessed with Fire)...
...will be based on a host of Guevara material currently held by his widow. Among the archived items are "personal letters, photos, writings and other paraphernalia," all of which Bauer will mine for his film, which he says will be "an intimate look at the thinking and the humanity" of the Cuban leader. The hope is that the film will be ready for release sometime next year...
Strangely for all the material out there already, and the work underway, I haven't actually seen anything of this man on film, and perhaps that makes for a more interesting topic as the most I know is what is plastered across common culture in the form of T Shirts and posters. Has anyone else views on these movies? Why is his story proving so popular now?
