Da Vinci Code prequel

DaVinciCode_Poster.jpgUnsurprisingly there's talk of a follow-up to The Da Vinci Code (review) already, and again without shock the book that seems to have been chosen is Angels and Demons and will be gracing us in a prequel movie.

Coming Soon found the news from Times Online. Again, unsurprisingly it seems down to the box office success of the film.

...according to Jeff Blake, the vice-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment...It has taken more than $200 million (£106 million) in the past three days, enough to propel it into Hollywood’s top four opening weekends

No surprise there, even with poor critic reviews and controversy galore. In fact that's probably just helped its cause.

Mr Blake said: "We are very interested in filming Angels and Demons. We hope that the relationship with Dan Brown will be a long one. That could be the next project."...

...It tells the story of Langdon’s brush with a shadowy secret society, the Illuminati, and his frantic quest for the world’s most powerful energy source, in the company of a beautiful Italian physicist whose father, a brilliant physicist, has been murdered.

Wow, an amazingly similar tale...and it progresses much the same as the Da Vinci Code. Still, I think that Demons is a far better book and I know that a lot of people would agree. I wonder if it will enjoy the same success, and can we expect Hanks and Howard to return?

Yeah I did prefer A&D than DVC, bring the team back!

Oh Groan, here we go again...

Hey Morbius, it's less controversial than DVC, so there.

I am wondering though Richard, how will they film that final climactic scene?

Is it less controversial? It's straight into the Vatican and the heart of the Papacy and centers around the death of a Pope. I think this one will be even moreso, but from a different source, that of the Vatican.

I really can't see them getting any filming permission for this story though!

Well lets hope you enjoy the next films as much as the current one, eh Simone! ;-D

Richard, I said "less controversial" because it's not about you-know-what. Wont it be less controversial if it was just about some pope and not about you-know-who? It's funny that I cant say the spoiler for DVC when I suppose everybody else already knows about it. I see what you mean about filming in the Vatican, that was what I thought about after seeing the Vatican scene in M:i:III. Where were the Swiss guards?

Well Morbius, the character of Robert Langdon is in just 2 of his books, dont even ask me about the 2 others, theyre a load of pants. Opppsss!
