Jackman talks Wolverine prequel
Hugh Jackman is certainly carrying a lot of weight in Hollywood these days as he shows with the acceptance level he has on the Wolverine script. He's discussing how he's not going to approve a Director until they have the script right.
Over at Superhero Hype they have a few quotes from him.
"We have two drafts and David is going to do another draft, and then we'll find our director," he said. "I'm not going to make a decision until I have the script right, but I'll definitely look at Brett [Ratner]. I don't want Wolverine to appear to be 'X-Men 4' in disguise; I don't want to make it stylistically the same. I want to do something different. That's my idea. Until we have the script, I don't really know who's right, but there's been a lot of interest from a lot of really amazing directors, so I'm really excited."
Well in this case I'm going to say that this level of say-so from the actor playing the role is a good thing. Jackman has a strong understanding of the role now and from what we've seen and heard from the guy he's pretty level headed and likes to deliver what the fans want.
At this point I just can't start screaming no to Ratner being a choice though since the X-Men footage looks so strong so far. However with Jackman saying he wants something different, perhaps he's looking for a different take altogether, less action perhaps and more character development?
