The Witches from Del Toro and Cuaron

TheWitches.jpgNow here's some remake news that is really interesting. The teaming of Guillermo del Toro and Alfonso Cuaron on an adaptation of Roald Dahl's book The Witches. Interestingly they don't mention remake at all and just talk about the source material.

From Coming Soon:

Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy) is teaming with fellow Mexican helmer Alfonso Cuaron (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) on an English-language adaptation of Roald Dahl's 1973 book The Witches for Warner Bros...

...Del Toro said his "Witches" adaptation would be "quite smaller but most likely very much designed," alluding to the eye-popping look of the previous films. He has written 70-plus of what he expects will be a 100-page screenplay.

The previous film managed a great balance between scare and fun, and had some really creepy moments but still managing to remain a kids film. From the look of Pan's Labyrinth and Harry Potter I think these two guys together could manage to achieve that great balance and make a very good film. Or, they could make it a totally adult feature. Which would be more interesting?

Dear boy, you look absolutely awful. Why don't you try acting? It's so much easier.
