To Paul Gleason

PaulGleason.jpgPaul Gleason died on the 27th of May 2006 aged 67, leaving a great stream of most memorable roles behind him, most notably that of the principal in The Breakfast Club.

I think it's strange how it affects fans when an actor dies. On the one hand none of us knew them as a person, and yet we knew and felt for all the characters that they played through their life, and these characters are nothing like the real person. Yet they will have touched us, made us laugh, cry, and hopefully reflect on our own lives and the lives of those around us.

Here's to Paul Gleason who gave us many of those moments in some of his best roles. Die Hard, Johnny Be Good, She's Having a Baby, The Breakfast Club, Trading Places, and many, many more.

I would ask for your onscreen memories of the man, however I think it will be a resounding verdict for one movie. Still, how do you remember Gleason?

Paul Gleason of course! I was watching Seinfeld the other evening and he guest starred in the episode "The Opposite" interviewing George for the NY Yankees, it was maybe just a minute or two but seeing him there was like knowing somebody you are familiar with.

"Die Hard" is where I remember him the most. Oh yes, "The Breakfast Club" too.
