Valderrama talks CHiPs movie

CHiPs.jpgThe replacement Ponch for the big screen movie version of CHiPs, Wilmer Valderrama, has spoken out about the film version and what's in store for the movie. To me, it all sounds quite ominous.

"...It's exciting because we're really keeping in mind all the mistakes that every other remake has made, and not going to make them in this one.

Oh dear...I'm hoping those words from Coming Soon aren't spoken too soon. The mistakes that every other remake has made?...Can you hear the bell tolling?

However, to be fair he does say some good things that hit the nail on the head about the feel of the show:

It's an action-comedy but the comedy comes from the chemistry...One of the things I want to do for this movie, that we wrote in there, we have huge stunts, motorcycle stuff, but at the end there's always some sort of human, real payoff. Whether it's hands shaking, after a huge jump…to make sure that even though it's an action-comedy, I want to definitely cater to the people who want to take that light as well. And the story is awesome. I already read the first draft… and it's actually going to take place today.

There's no word on other attachments to the film, no Jon although he does claim that Oscar winners are clambering to be the chief...he also says that although there's no director on board yet...

"We're tossing around a few people right now..."

As much as I enjoyed this show as a kid I'm not particularly excited about this project.
