Wall Street sequel
The sequel to that great Michael Douglas starrer Wall Street is going strong according to reports. The concern before was that it would be another Hollywood remake\revisualisation\destruction, however word is leaking out that there's some thought going into this and it might turn into something a bit more than we expect.
Moviehole carry an interesting rumour from an inside source:
"It's a continuation of the Gordon Gecko story....set twenty-odd years later", I'm told. "Basically, it'd start with Gecko coming out of jail - everything caught up with him, as it did most people like him at the end of the 80s - and then having to apply his ways to the very changed world."Apparently, both Douglas and "Wall Street" director Oliver Stone are in the "early stages" of writing the film...It's Douglas. It's Oliver Stone. It's Ed Pressman, producing.
Sounds good actually, although there's still not enough there to make me think "Wow, this is going to be more than a Hollywood sequel", because actually...it's a Hollywood sequel. I like the idea of rejoining him just after coming out of jail, but let's not see him just try and apply his greed mentality to current day again. It'll just end up a similar story as he builds a new empire, probably in oil.
Still, I would like to see Douglas return to the screen with some big acting role playing to his strengths, and a Wall Street sequel could well give us some of that.
