Willem Dafoe in Mr Bean II?!

I can't believe that the great actor that is Willem Dafoe has signed for the movie Bean II featuring that awful, inane and blisteringly dull character of Mr Bean. Dafoe, what is wrong?!

According to Variety through Coming Soon it's true.

Willem Dafoe, Emma de Caunes and Jean Rochefort have signed up for supporting roles in Working Title's Bean II, which started shooting last week in Paris, reports Variety.
The sequel to the 1997 hit Bean finds the hapless Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson) traveling to the South of France on holiday, causing the usual mayhem and ending with an unscheduled screening of his video diary at the Cannes Film Festival.

Oh sweet lord. Wrap this one up with the Pink Panther please and file under lost British comedy. Honestly I can't see the attraction in this story and character, and even so I can't understand Dafoe's choice in movies. This guy was once such a strong and magnetic actor...

For some of these great actors at the end of the day, it's just another job. Not sure what exactly his role will be in the Bean movie, but maybe for him it's a diversion from other roles he has done before. It may not give him awards, but that's still another role, making them visible for some producer or director out there to make them keep working.

I also admire Mr. Dafoe, I think he is not only very talented but sexy.
