Amber Tamblyn talks Grudge 2
Amber Tamblyn has been interviewed about her role in The Grudge 2, the American sequel to the American remake of the Asian horror film Ju-on. That clear? The interview tells us little about the film itself, but we do get a sense of where it comes after the original film.
In the interview, over at Coming Soon she reveals that she has a liking for horror and Asian horror movies, even before her brief appearance in the American remake of The Ring. Here's what she had to say about her character in Grudge 2:
Aubrey obviously is Karen's, Sarah Michelle Gellar's, younger sister, and she's always been the underdog in the family and somebody who is not as ambitious or driven as her sister. She's sort of always felt like she's had to follow in her sister's footsteps. Even her mother sending her to Japan to figure out what happened to her sister… She wants her to figure out where she went and what happened and all this stuff about the fire...She goes in a lot more tentatively, I think, you know with her experiences with the ghost and going to the house. She's really the last one to go to the house and have a horrific experience with it.
She also has some interesting things to say about her understandings of the Grudge story and Asian horror, and for an American actress I was surprised about her belief that "less is more" in the movies, something Hollywood struggles to understand. It's an interesting interview and worth a little read.
