Beowulf and Grendel review
There's a positive review arrived for Beowulf and Grendel, the Gerard Butler starrer. This comes as a bit of a surprise as I had thought it was receiving some pretty bad press.
The review is over at Cinematical is very positive indeed, here are a few choice comments:
Gerard Butler, so perfectly cast he could have stepped right out of the ancient manuscript......This is a very complex story with a lot of characters, each with their own motivations...
...the acting is great. Skarsgård is perfectly cast as the moody, downtrodden king...and Butler is perfect as the intelligent, fierce warrior who revels in his heroism...
...The adaptation of the tale adds texture to the ancient story that makes it more intriguing and meaninful, and there are some great touches of humor woven throughout to keep things from getting too heavy. Gunnarsson has made a film that would make the real Beowulf and Grendel, if they ever really existed, quite proud.
I really wasn't interested in watching this before, but now it's attracting my attention. That does sound a good tale, and perhaps I'll drop that in my watch list.
If I remember the trailers didn't really do anything for me, and the tale wasn't grabbing me, but more and more the negative reviews and comments I've been seeing are turning positive. Perhaps it is something worth a watch. I know the Butler fans will be.
