Josh Lucas in GQ's Smart
Josh Lucas is set to play the founder of GQ and Esquire magazines, a man who had a germ phobia that ruled most of his life.
From Variety through Coming Soon:
The film centers on the magazine powerhouse whose life was almost entirely consumed by his germ phobia. He and a circle of colleagues created a long string of classroom instructional films on health and hygiene. Meanwhile, he led an unorthodox personal life and was known for his womanizing and affinity for shirtless photos of himself.
Well come on, we all like to get our shirt off, that's hardly a reason to make a film! Or maybe...anyway, enough about my murky past.
This looks quite interesting for Lucas, a challenging character piece that might show us his mettle, especially after doing so much middle of the road work...oh, I didn't realise that Lucas was in Session 9. I think there's a lot more in Lucas, and we've seen glimpses of it in the odd movie, but he's never really grabbed onto that bus and rode it, he's always popped back into easier, mainstream roles.
