Ian McShane has grown from strength to strength since his appearance in the television show Deadwood, and with three quite strong movies in the near future there's news of another one today where he'll be playing the father of a stuntman.

The premise is quite interesting and comes from Variety through Coming Soon:

Hot Rod...a collaboration of Saturday Night Live comedy team the Lonely Island, Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer...Samberg stars as an accident-prone daredevil who plans to jump Snake River on a moped in an effort to emulate his hero Evel Knievel and win over his hard-to-please stepfather (McShane).

Pam Brady wrote the script. Schaffer is directing with Taccone taking a supporting role.

Sounds quite interesting, and although McShane isn't going to be the lead, it's good to see him in some strong, big roles. I was a big fan of that whole era of Knievel and stuntmen doing shows and big screen stunts. Now we've just got guys that sit in boxes or water tanks!
