Yuma remake canned
The remake of the classic western 3:10 to Yuma has been put into "turnaround" by Sony.
I love that phrase, it's so touchy feely and softly softly. It also reminds me of that kids game show with Mike Reid...oh no, that was Runabout. Interestingly, and I didn't know this, Walk the Line was originally scheduled to be a Sony film and they too put that into "turnaround", what a poor choice that was, could this be a similarly bad choice?
The film was originally rumoured to appear Tom Cruise and now it's dropped somewhat to the weighty touch of Russell Crowe. The story from UK IGN says that the Director and Producer are shopping around for a studio at the moment and still hope to go ahead with shooting.
"Westerns have come to mean a kind of narcissistic, ponderous film – and that ain't what we're making," the filmmaker told Variety. "We're making something with balls, taste and emotion. And I think it's something that's an answer to the kind of saturated, digital overload we're seeing on screens. This is about real people and real action."
Doesn't really grab me as anything new, or anything that would grab an audience. Although the story does sound as though it would suit intense, personal performances.
