Batman Begins sequel updates

BatmanBegins_Poster.jpgNow I don't really think any of these Batman Begins sequel revelations are spoilers, but they are definitely exciting for all those waiting to hear what the film has in store.

From Batman on Film through MoviesOnline come the few points that a reliable insider gave Batman on Film...

  1. The Joker is not going to be like Jack Nicholson's Joker
  2. There will be a back story to create The Joker
  3. The Joker will not be the only villain in the film
  4. The Joker will appear later on in the film

Sounds interesting stuff, there are couple of qoutes that sound good too:

Heath Ledger is perfect for the role as he has never played this kind of part before which is what Nolan was after. Think about it -- if you see Sam Rockwell or Robin Williams or even Hugo Weaving, you’d know exactly how they would play the role before even seeing the film...

...expect The Joker to be very creepy and very extreme.

Woo. Well we guessed the first point already, and there's no surprise in either of the other points, although just being up against Joker would have made a great story on its own, I think we can trust them not to blow the film with too many baddies. After all we've seen how not to do it so many times now.

Expect the Joker to be extreme...and if played by Ledger as the source suggests...well, this is going to be a very interesting Joker indeed.

Well... I really wanted a Joker-only movie, and Ledger isn´t definetely my taste, but who knows?

"very creepy and very extreme" sounds pretentious to me. Like if Nicholson wasn´t exactly that.

We will see.

I think that Ledger would definitely be an interesting choice for it...

I have faith in Nolan and if he thinks Ledger is The Joker, I'll put some stock in that...He hasn't disappointed me yet!

you know, chances are they're going to go with the origin story that was revealed in "the killing joke"...since the first movie was based on "year one", and that was the difinitive batman-origin story. Killing Joke had a very different origin for the Smiling one:

He was basically a failed commedian who was scarred for life and went insane following a botched heist job in which he was fooled into helping 2 criminals whom betrayed him and killed his fiancee...The joker himself saw the failure of his comedy career as the main reason he lost his wife and thusly it drove him insane.

this is the condensed version, but you can see how different this would be from the Jack Napier version in the tim burton batman.

whatever the case of the story they're going to use, that is one really good reason to use someone like Ledger. It WOULD take us completely off guard.

I've said a few times before that I would like The Joker not to be in the final confrontation of the sequel to Batman Begins.

I think that if they could build up the tension between Napier and Bats over the course of 2 movies, it would serve for a much better finale to part 3.

Has there been an official statement from anyone yet to confirm Ledger?

The main source for Batman from Tim Burton is the Killing Joke itself. In the movie, exactly as in the comic, the Joker fails to an acid pool because of the involvement of Batman.

So... what´s new here?

And the Joker... the mistake is killing him. He should never be killed. One of the great treats is that he is always recluded in the Asylum... to return again, even more menacious.

Sounds very interesting. However I can't see how anyone could possible improve Jack Nicholson's portrayal of The Joker. The choice of actor for this role seemed strange though. He looks the part (minus the white skin, obviously), but I would have prefered a more well known actor for something this big. Hugo Weaving, for example, would be perfect for the role. A pity we can't have Nicholson again. Any ideas on the other villain? I get the feeling this other one could drag the film down. Maybe we are looking at Scarecrow? Very likely as he was not captured in Batman Begins. But there's a lot of time before release, they could change their plans at any time. The Joker is really going to be interesting. Hopefully they will follow the vat of acid story. I prefered taht to the other one
