Caine confirms Sleuth remake

MichaelCaine.jpgMichael Caine has confirmed a rumour that has been going around for some time, that he is considering a remake of a superb film called Sleuth.

Caine starred in the excellent adaptation of the play opposite Laurence Olivier and it is well worth seeing if you haven't already. On TCM he says:

Jude Law and I have got together and we might remake Sleuth. We’ve got a very good script by Harold Pinter that might be worth doing with me in the older Olivier part and him playing my part but we haven’t got that set up yet.

Wow...I must admit that to see Caine swap into the Olivier role would be superb, but I can't help but think that in this modern day film industry we'll see the cleverness, subtlety and stage-like recreation lost in a big budget film. Although I like Law, I'm still not convinced he's right for the role. What do you think? Have you seen the original?

Ah! Didnt Law play Alfie, another one of Caine's films, and now they will be working on a film together? No, I havent seen the original, might put that on my rental queue.

Richard, you nailed it. It all would be lost in a BBG film. And to remake this gem... it´s just a sick and indecent idea.
