News is out that Russell Crowe and Ron Howard have dropped out of The Power of Duff and Crowe may be replaced by Jamie Foxx.

According to Variety through Jo Blo:

THE POWER OF DUFF...follows a grieving TV news anchor who takes his prayers to the air and discovers they start being answered. Crowe was attached to star with Ron Howard directing but both the actor and director recently dropped out leaving Foxx the opportunity to jump in. Foxx will produce the film and hasn't yet committed to starring...

I'm not really sure what's going on with Crowe, it's not as if he has a full slate of movies right now. I would have said it was one of his funny decisions, but with news that Howard has left as well makes me think the choice was more about the movie and that they both left for a reason. Still quite strange though.
