Previous stories have had Britney Spears and Pink in the running for playing Janis Joplin in her movie biography, however rumour is breaking that Zooey Deschanel has scored the role in The Gospel According to Janis.

To be honest her closest rumoured competition were Scarlett Johansson and Lindsay Lohan, but Lohan would take the role far too personally, however it would have been good to see Johansson taking on such a different role.
