Die Hard 4 update

BruceWillis.jpgRumours are out that some of the original ideas behind Die Hard 4 have been changed, and for the better. Allegedly someone just had the guts to ask someone connected with the film a pointed question, and got a very honest answer.

Now, quick warning, this information from AICN through Cinematical has a little spoiler in it, it's not great earth shattering type spoiler, but it will affect perhaps the first fifteen minutes of the film. So, as usual, head off if you don't want to read it.

Still here? Okay, read on to the main story...

Previously we had heard that McClane was going to team up with his computer genius son to head off the hackers that represent the big baddies in this outing, and let's face it we all thought this was pretty poor stuff. What are the chances of his son being...oh, let's not get into it.

Well, turns out that this isn't going to be the case anymore and that McLane will enlist the assistance of a jailed computer genius. That is according to a guy who was sitting next to someone involved in the film. Okay, sounds a stretch, but in front of him was Len Wiseman and a bunch of producers. He overheard discussion about the movie and names being mentioned, but the only real information that came out was the scoop above.

I have to say it makes sense. The original idea was very contrived and the audience would have laughed it out of the cinema. However this sounds much stronger, and if McLane is on his own as usual how does the guy get released from prison for him to team up? Not with official help anyway...perhaps McLane has to get him out by force first, similar to a certain 24 series?

What do you think, is this sounding much better already?

Optimism is up. I could live without a Die Hard 4, but if they're moving ahead then it has to be right! Die Hard is the quintessential action movie to this day.

The whole "computer genius son" plot sounded very poor, but this is definitely more promising. If this is the case, who would be a good match with Willis?

Die Hard goes techno?

Guns and big bangs, that's what it's all about. Would hope the finale is true to form and not a case of shutting off the villains net acceess.

I was only disappointed once by this franchise and that was in part 2. I hope that for the 4th (and maybe the last) they will get the action and thrill going once again.

This is more in retrospect but I never used to watch action films, but when it came out in the late 80's a guy friend insisted that Die Hard was so good that after he came out of the screening, he didnt mind if he would pay for his ticket again - I thought that was a clever way to convince me and I am glad I listened because that film started my affair with action flicks.

Spidey, did you also like the Lethal Weapon series? Because I do!

I don't know. Die hard 3 worked against all odds when It broke the formula of "terrorist commandeers capitalist icon ( skyscraper/airport/etc ) / Mclain has to save wife" scenario.

I don't know if they could pull it off again.
but you know me. I want to be optimistic about it. And die hard HAS NEVER FAILED TO DELIVER before. Hell. Go for it!!!
