Edison Force straight to DVD

JustinTimberlake.jpgAlthough it's unclear whose fault this really is, the latest film that Justin Timberlake is starring in, Edison, is to receive a straight to DVD outing.

According to IMDB the reviews have been pretty poor for the film, even calling it a B-picture.

Despite it featuring such actors as Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey, the Studio have decided to let it skip by the theatrical release and head straight to DVD.

Now this may not bode well for the film, but it doesn't necessarily mean that Timberlake is the one at fault. Perhaps Alpha Dog will tell us more.

What a shame, I probably will never know as I dont think I am even interested to rent, much more purchase the DVD.

It has a very poor rating on IMDB. Not too sure if I'd have been interested to be honest. Maybe with Freeman and Spacey, this will be one of them "so bad it's good" movies that will get a cult following. Or maybe it's just total shit!

I must say I'd entirely forgotten about this film until now, though I remember thinking at the time it had canine potential written all over it. The IMDB entry, showing the list of release dates, is really odd, suggesting it's even been shown in places like Estonia and Kuwait before the US. IMDb also indicate that shooting took place around March 2004, and the film's first public showing was September 2005. That seems an unusually long turnover period even in this age, and I reckon the studio has had no faith in the thing for a long time indeed. I wouldn't be surprised if they're only releasing the thing at all because of contractual obligation rather than any actual desire to put it out.
