Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer writer speaks
Don Payne is the screenwriter of Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer and has been speaking about the film and the plot, frankly what he says turns me off more and more to the film, however I'm not really a big fan of the Four anyway. Here's what he had to say:
From Sci-Fi Wire:
The Silver Surfer will be in it. The Fantasticar will be in it. We're just trying to make it more exciting and funnier, and, you know, we're trying to top the first one."...make Reed Richards, that character, smarter and tougher...
So I like the idea of making Reed tougher, he was a complete wet blanket in the first. However the Fantasticar and making it funnier are just two aspects that turn me off. More camp, more comedy, more self-depreciation? Not for me thanks. That doesn't work with a superhero in my mind, it just makes them too human and too silly. Still, at least I can be happy that the Thing is in it, but for me that's the only positive part, because even though the Surfer is in it, I'm so concerned he's going to be Surfer-Lite.
