Fiennes downs the Red Baron

TheRedBaron.jpgHere's a remake I am interested in, The Red Baron (Der Rote Baron) is the story by Nikolai Müllerschön of the German World War I fighter pilot, Manfred von Richthofen, who was reveared for his flying skills and number of kills made, and Joseph Fiennes has signed up to play the man who shoots him down in the new film version.

The story comes from Variety through Coming Soon, and tells us that Matthias Schweighöfer will play the Baron and Til Schweiger his flying partner.

Give this a decent budget ($22.5 million announced) and effects and we could really see something that looks visually exciting as the early fighters battle in the skies. However what I would also like to see is that there's a healthy respect kept for the history of the time, and something slightly more educational comes out of it. I don't mean being preached to, but understanding what it really was like to be a fighter pilot in those days and defend your country, on both sides of the war

oh GOD...as a kid I was chilled to the bone when I learned that the Red Baron had gone down. That someone had shot him...

...this is one story that I would go to nearly any length to see...and I'm surprised no one has touched on this in so long.

Ralph Fiennes is so good! He can play just anything. And this character suits him like a pair of gloves.

Peter, it's his younger brother Joseph, who is just as yummy and very good. ;D

I read too fast :(

Well, I wish it was the elder! LOL
