Iron Man villian and poster revealed

IronMan_Poster.jpgJon Favreau talked at Comic-Con about the Iron Man movie and revealed that the villain is going to be...Mandarin. Not only that but he's released an early poster for the movie.

The poster comes from Rope of Silicon who grabbed a shot of it at Comic-Con. It looks pretty cool, you can see the full size over at their site. I really like the tag line at the bottom that tells us "Stark Industries Prototype", and the hints of the suit look very good.

On the villain front though I'm unsure. Does that mean he's going to be a slightly squashed mini-orange? Seriously I have no idea who Mandarin is and little understanding of his connection with Iron Man, so the news from Coming Soon isn't really that exciting for me. With that, why don't you tell me who and what he is, and why this is such good news for the Iron Man fans out there?

mmmmmm mandarin....

and wow...as live action Iron Man goes, this poster couldn't look much cooler. It has an air of mystery to it that may just get some folks talking about this movie.

I'm hoping it gets some of the hype it deserves. Iron Man, in the hands of a capable writer, can deliver some INCREDIBLE stories.

P.S. as far as I can remember, Mandarin is this cool looking Fu Man Chu looking dude with a wild hat that has ten rings of power that give him control over pretty much everything...

...he's pretty much one of Iron Man's most capable enemies. And I'm excited to see how they pull him off without making him into a magical cliche'.

for mandarin, think...ming the merciless but green

For "lee" don't read "Lee", it wasnae me!

Jon will have to SERIOUSLY update the Mandarin character for the 21st century, as he was created back in the 60's as a very stereotypical Chinese villain. He is probably THE Iron Man villain of all time, though. Outside of him they'd have to go for Justin Hammer, but that's boring corporate stuff (maybe the sequel and "Armor Wars", heh).

Having said the above, I think ol' Shellhead is in great hands considering Favreau's talk of Bond/Clancy as a feel for the movie.

Cool.

Vic

sorry about that dude...I added a clone bit to avoid confusion this time :p

Hey, to clone me you'll need a SERIOUS amount of popcorn!

:-D
