I plan to see The Host (Gwoemul) at this years EIFF, and it's hard to believe that already a Hollywood remake is on the cards, but that's the story out today.

According to Variety through Kung Fu Cult Cinema although Magnolia pictures own the rights for the US release, major studios are clammering over the remake rights. Word is that the Asian sales agent for the film expect the deal to be done within the next few months and that the director of the original, Joon-ho Bong, is also being linked to the remake and has had offers to direct.

I can hardly believe this, I mean it's just receiving a release in the US and it was made in 2006, why the need for a remake so soon, other than the concern that mainstream audiences might not want to read subtitles or experience something outside the standard Hollywood movie format? This just gets worse and worse.
