Ian McShane's career is taking a huge climb since Deadwood, the latest news is that he's joining Renée Zellweger on the horror/thriller film Case 39.

The story from Variety through Coming Soon tells us that he is set to play the cop who helps Zellweger's character investigate the case of a girl abused by her parents, only to find out later that things aren't what they seem at all.

It does sound an interesting story, and it's a great signing for McShane. I think he's a strong talent that has gone unrecognised by Hollywood for a long time. It's a similar problem with a lot of talent outside Hollywood.
