Rhames joins Day of the Dead remake

VingRhames.jpgNews is out that the superb Ving Rhames is set to join the remake of the classic George A. Romero film Day of the Dead.

The new version is being directed by TV director Steve Miner and written by Jeffrey Reddick who brought us the Final Destination series.

Good news from Bloody Disgusting through Movies Online that Rhames is in there, but frankly there's only one zombie film I want to see and that's Romero making a follow up to Land of the Dead, which would mark the world having been taken over by zombies...similar to this film I believe, but someone's gone and beaten him to it.

Well zombie and horror fans, which would you rather see, or is there room in your heart for both?

I was quite happy with the original trilogy even Romero’s forth entry was sub par. I love zombie films and while I realise they are formulaic for the most part I would still like people to at least try a something a little new, as usual with this re-make of a film that is still much loved I can’t really see the point. There’s nothing wrong with being inspired by and even borrowing from Romero, but why go over the exact ground he has already covered. I know I don’t have to watch the remakes and these days I tend not to, but as a film fan it’s starting to leave me very disillusioned. I love Classic cult, horror and genre movies in general, but it would be nice if there where fresh new products to look forward to, this kind of thing just seems so tired.
