Ace Ventura 3 begins

AceVentura.jpgThere's another "what's going on moment" this morning with news that another Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is coming to our screens entitled, Ace Ventura Junior, doesn't that just smell bad?

The idea looks set to follow in the steps of other such spin offs for Sherlock Holmes and Indiana Jones, and create a story featuring the son of Ace Ventura taking over his Dad's business and falling into the same pitfalls as his father.

Currently, according to The Hollywood Reporter through Coming Soon, Morgan Creek has taken on board three writers to help churn out the third in the series, and presumably try and spark off a new series of Junior films.

Please help us, this sounds completely dire. I mean the original movie had some fun in it, but Carrey has moved on since these movies, and he should stay moved on, he's not the rubber faced, screaming to the camera comedy actor we first met. Hopefully he won't return, but with or without him could you see this working?

I have not seen an Ace Ventura film, should I?

I would actually recommend the first one, Simone - Jim Carrey is hilarious and a chance to see Courteney Cox in her first major movie role(I think?). Good clean fun - mostly!

As for a 3rd movie...please God NO! Personally I don't think Carey would do it, and look what happened with 'Son of the Mask'. Need I say more?

Right. I didnt really warm up to Carrey until Eternal Sunshine. But okay, I shall take your word for it. ;P

It´s a strange move from Carrey. But it´s really a funny character. I still dream about seeing Carrey and Ben Stiller together, though the battle of egos can be impressive, too.

To quote Ace Ventura himself, "Holy shitballs!"

I can almost smell the desperation from the studios at this point. Talk about lack of originality. The first two Ace Ventura movies worked primarily because of Jim Carrey. As expected, When Nature Calls never lived up to the original (with the exception of a few really funny scenes) but a 3rd installment?! Definitely not required.

Jim Carrey has well and truly moved past this phase of his career, and has proven himself as not just one funny motherfu..... but a really good dramatic actor too.

If this gets made then so be it. I won't see it. I just hope Jim Carrey stays with the rest of us.... well away!
