Aronofsky signs up for his next project
Darren Aronofsky has been signed to direct the film adaptation of Shannon Burke's novel Black Flies. Also involved is Todd Kesler and Eric Watson. Watson produced Aronofsky's last student film Protozoa, and Kesler wrote and produced for The Sopranos.
Hollywood Reporter through Coming Soon sums up the novel like this.
The novel follows a young man who becomes an emergency medical technician in Harlem as a temporary stop before he enters medical school. While there, he experiences a range of crises and stressful misadventures while under the eye of a mentor who has been numbed to the point that he makes a wrong decision in a life-or-death situation.
Sounds like it could be interesting, especially with Aronofsky tied to it. His previous films have not fallen into the mainstream category, so it could be we get an interesting adaptation. Does this adaptation sound appealing to you, or are you over adaptations already?
