Benecio Del Toro's Wolf Man script reviewed

Werewolf.jpgThe Wolf Man which is set to star Benecio Del Toro, has been quiet for some time. Quiet that is until the script was reviewed on the Internet just today.

The good news is that it sounds violent, and it gets a strong review over at Latino Review through Jo Blo. Now I'm staying clear of script reviews as a matter of course, but feel free to have a look if you wish, they've tried to keep spoilers to a minimum. Here's an excerpt from the B+ rated review:

Throats get torn out, heads get decapitated, bodies get torn in two, dismembered limbs go flying everywhere, entrails get spilled all over the place, the poor victims of The Wolf Man get absolutely gored to death.

Oh, nice. So we're probably looking at an 18\R here, perhaps a similar feeling to An American Werewolf in London but with a bit less humour and a bucket more gore? A look to The Howling kind of scary? Perhaps more Dog Soldiers? Who knows, it could all change with a director, but it will have plenty of past great werewolf movies to draw style from. Which was your favourite werewolf movie?

The Landis one. It´s true it has humour, but it´s quite scary as well, and the Fx are among the best without CGI involved.

Crap flicks like Underworld or Van Helsing were still so far...

I've actually never cared much for werewolves for some reason. Your original 1941 Wolf Man is great, though. Much better than a Universal horror film from the 40s could reasonably be expected to be. And I did rather like Wolf with Jack Nicholson back in '94, although I don't know how well it's worn. You never seem to hear about it any more, though.

James, thank you! I liked the Nicholson Wolf as well, I thought there were some really intelligent aspects to that story...now there's a film to revisit.
