Gandolfini plays Hemingway

JamesGandolfini.jpgJames Gandolfini has been doing a good job of choosing film roles away from the Sopranos character, and he look set to stretch this even further as he continues his HBO deal with a film about Ernest Hemingway's romance with the World War II correspondent Martha Gellhorm.

According to IMDB Gellhorm will be played by the lovely and talented Robin Wright Penn in this story that marked the inspiration for Hemingway's novel For Whom the Bell Tolls.

Certainly it's as far away from Tony as you could go, and it's also a major scoop for him. I actually didn't realise he came from a stage background.

Although I love the Soprano's I do think it's hiding a really strong talent in Gandolfini, and if you've seen him in other roles you'd know exactly what I mean. It'll be good to see more films come from this man and less gangster type roles.

The Sopranos is one of my TV flaws. Everybody says it´s outstanding and I believe it. But I have yet to watch it myself. I heard the guy´s income is really huge!

For somebody who doesnt own tv then I am worse than you! ;P

Hemingway is my favorite writer personality. Such a man, adventurer, drunk and wacko. I would be very interested in seeing J.G. in this role.

The Sopranos is by-far my favourite TV show (so much so, I'm visiting The Bing next week.) ;o)

Gandolfini is a really good actor, and I have enjoyed watching him in everything he has done to date.

Hopefully this can help him make that big step-up and start getting more roles, given that The Sopranos is coming to an end next year too.
