Gandolfini plays Hemingway
James Gandolfini has been doing a good job of choosing film roles away from the Sopranos character, and he look set to stretch this even further as he continues his HBO deal with a film about Ernest Hemingway's romance with the World War II correspondent Martha Gellhorm.
According to IMDB Gellhorm will be played by the lovely and talented Robin Wright Penn in this story that marked the inspiration for Hemingway's novel For Whom the Bell Tolls.
Certainly it's as far away from Tony as you could go, and it's also a major scoop for him. I actually didn't realise he came from a stage background.
Although I love the Soprano's I do think it's hiding a really strong talent in Gandolfini, and if you've seen him in other roles you'd know exactly what I mean. It'll be good to see more films come from this man and less gangster type roles.
