Gellar makes her Return

SarahMichelleGellar.jpgSarah Michelle Gellar has completed her next movie. Following her appearance in the supernatural thriller The Grudge, her next release is...the supernatural thriller The Return. If you don't want to know the plot outline look away now...

Through Coming Soon. Gellar stars as a woman plagued by supernatural visions. Not only that she is estranged from her father, stalked by her crazy ex boyfriend and isn't overloaded in the friend department. Sound familiar Buffy fans? After one of her supernatural visions leads her to the victim's hometown, Gellar goes digging for information and no doubt will end up opening a can of worms.

Don't get me wrong I liked The Grudge, I think it's one of the best Hollywood remakes of a Japanese horror film. However with The Grudge 2 on the way as well, is Ms Gellar in danger of being typecast as a scream queen?

Just so everyone knows, I'll be dead busy over the two weeks of the EIFF as well as taking a weeks holiday in a wee while, so I've arranged some cover.

My mate Louise is having a go at a few stories as a practice and the above is her first story. Leave her some comments so that she knows how well she's done. You'll see a few others appear in the coming weeks before she starts the cover. Say hi!

Yeah Louise rocks! She's great!

Hopefully I'll do you justice while you're busy at the EIFF and taking a well deserved holiday.

I like her already!

Welcome Louise, I am sure you will do a great job. We will keep you company as Richard enjoys a much-deserved holiday- wherever he's going. ;D

Hi Louise, good to hear the site will be in safe hands while Richard is on holiday :-)
With regards to the story, I totally agree about SMG becoming typecast. I was a huge fan of Buffy, and even though she wasn't my favourite actor in the series, her talent and potential was obvious - just a shame she's using it to appear in the same kinds of movies over and over again. Personally I'm quite disappointed at the direction her career has taken since leaving Buffy. Here's hoping she tries something different soon.

Four days in Spain I think...

Hi Louise! I'm sure you'll keep us well informed while Richard is busy. :)

As for this story, I agree. It's a pitfall many actors face, especially if they were a loved TV persona. As a fan of SMG I would like to see her move onto something outside of the horror/supernatural realm.

You have to wonder if she picks these movies because she likes them or if it's the only type of movies she's getting offers for. The movie business is rough and sometimes you take what you can get, so you can keep working.

Thanks for the welcome. It's a little weird writing from the other side but I'm sure Richard will keep me right.

I was also a fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar's in Buffy. I don't think her movie career has really taken off since Buffy finished, with the exception of The Grudge. I agree she is probably not getting the roles offered to her that she would like, maybe she should have taken some time off after Buffy to let that character fade from peoples minds a little. Here's hoping her next few roles will be more varied.

Oh I love Spain, havent been there yet though. I heard the weather should be nice too. ;D

Actors are fools to complain about the public's attention. They should be glad to have it, not claim they dislike it, and yet go out of their way to seek it.
