Hellboy 2 gets a home

Hellboy.jpgHellboy 2: The Golden Army has been languishing in doubt these last few months as the film didn't have a studio that wanted to make it, for some insane reason Columbia Pictures dropped the film. However their loss is Universal's gain, as they announce that they will finance and distribute the movie. Well done guys.

The news comes from SlashFilm:

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army follows Hellboy (played by Ron Pearkman) as he must save the world from the creatures of the nether-world, who have started a rebellion against humanity in order to rule the Earth.

Teehee, I love that quote...finger slips on the keyboard! Ron Perlman, Selma Blair and Doug Jones are all to return with Guillermo del Toro at the helm.

I have to say I really enjoyed the first movie and I just can't see this being anything but better, or at least more of the same, and that's great in my book. GdT is really showing his mettle of late, and his vision and styling on all his movies is lavish and exciting to the eye.

Now we can begin to see some movement on the movie and look forward to seeing some pre-release shots and clips...roll on production.

I knew this flick would be picked up. What I wonder is, when will Del Torro do it? WILL he do it? If not, who will?

Oh without a doubt, who else would do it?

He has 3993, Killing on Carnival Row, and Hellboy 2 announced for next year as Director, I think we'll see him select his favourite first, and if Hellboy 2 has a go then that will be the one.

Del Toro also has At The Mountains Of Madness on his plate which he was sounding very enthusiastic about recently.

I'd be quite to see his take on an H. P. Lovecraft story, so I'd be quite happy to see this one go ahead first.

Acting is not the noblest profession in the world. There are things lower than acting - not many, mind you. The politicians give you something to look down on from time to time.
